Why I Trust My Naturopath
I had a visit with my naturopath yesterday; we have a zoom or phone call every four weeks without fail. We start our time by catching up on life and then diving into how the last month went for me. We talk about any issues I had with any of his medicines, and then spend our time projecting forward to what we want to accomplish in the next month. We than hang up the phone and he gets to work. He usually sends me a new plan within a few days - unless he is just swamped with more acute and pressing cases. Because he is so busy, I always make sure I have a couple of visits scheduled out for a few months - I would hate to miss a visit.
My naturopath was one of my best professors in Naturopathic school and we share a lot of things in common. We have a very similar philosophy about medicine and healing. We both believe, that if you properly drain, detoxify, and depurate the human body, it can, and will heal. We also both believe that true health is achieved through a balanced body, mind, spirt and emotions. He is quite a good homeopath, and he uses primarily homeopathy and herbal medicines. He is also very curious and loves the puzzle that I present to him each month. I think we are a good fit for each other.
You might wonder why a naturopath would have a standing monthly visit with his own naturopath. I see my ND for a variety of reasons. For one, I really value good health. And I think my best money spent is having an expert think about me once a month. He can then come up with the best possible plan to continue to improve my well-being. I also like relying on his decades of experience and clinical knowledge to help find solutions to my health challenges. He often comes up with ideas and treatment plans for me that I would have never considered. It is not hard to see that we are inherently flawed at seeing ourselves objectively. Therefore, I think it is much better to have someone else view our situation and make recommendations.
I trust my doctor implicitly. I know that he has my best interest in mind and that he will work hard after we hang up the phone, putting on his best thinking hat and tapping into his intuition to choose the remedies for the following month. In my mind, the money I spend on office visits and medicines is cheap health insurance. And not only is it insurance against future disease it is also a way to continue to better myself and therefore make myself a better father, husband, and doctor. If I am healthy, I can be of better service to the people who need me. My plan is to continue to see him every single month until one of us dies or he retires.
I might be biased but I think Naturopathy is the best fit for my health. The way my naturopath looks at my physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health aligns with my core beliefs. The naturopaths undying desire to find the root cause of every single problem speaks to me at my core. As well as the naturopaths calling to teach their patients to live in accordance with the laws of nature tin order to not develop disease strikes me a fundamental truth. I love naturopathy and I love seeing my naturopath every month.
